Spine Surgery Treatments Available
Not every patient who walks into a spine office actually needs surgery. Some improve with therapy, injections, activity changes, or time. Others eventually reach a point where the symptoms keep progressing, no matter what they try. Wong Spine offers several advanced surgical options across all locations, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures. A lot of patients searching for the best spine surgeon in Los Angeles options are looking for realistic guidance as much as the surgery itself.
Robotic Spine Surgery
Robotic-assisted spine surgery helps improve precision during complex spinal procedures. It gives surgeons more detailed guidance during stabilization and implant placement, where accuracy matters heavily.
Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
These procedures use smaller incisions and reduce disruption to the surrounding muscle and tissue. Recovery often feels more manageable compared to traditional open surgery approaches.
Artificial Disc Replacement
Artificial disc replacement is designed to preserve spinal movement while treating damaged discs causing chronic pain or nerve irritation. In certain cases, it may be considered instead of spinal fusion.
Spinal Fusion Surgery
Spinal fusion helps stabilize weakened or unstable parts of the spine that continue causing pain, nerve compression, or structural problems during movement.
Decompression Surgery
Decompression surgery removes pressure affecting spinal nerves. It is commonly recommended for stenosis, herniated discs, sciatica, numbness, or radiating leg symptoms.
Endoscopic Spine Surgery
Endoscopic spine surgery uses specialized camera-guided instruments inserted through very small openings. The goal is to reduce tissue disruption during certain spinal procedures.
- Why Choose us
Why Patients Travel to Los Angeles for Spine Surgery Care
A lot of patients searching for the best spine surgeon are no longer focused on finding the closest office. Usually, they have already spent months trying different treatments without lasting improvement. At that stage, most people simply want somebody experienced enough to explain what is actually going on and whether surgery is necessary at all.
That is one reason patients travel from different parts of Southern California to meet with Dr. Wong. Many arrive after failed conservative treatment, worsening nerve symptoms, or consultations that left them frustrated and confused. Choosing a spine surgery surgeon becomes a serious decision once pain, mobility, and daily function all start getting affected together.
Specialized Spine Expertise Matters
Spinal problems can become complicated pretty quickly. Two patients may both have disc issues on paper while needing completely different treatment approaches in real life. Surgery itself is only part of the equation. Proper diagnosis, timing, and surgical judgment matter too. Patients searching for the best spine surgeon in Los Angeles are usually trying to find somebody who handles these cases regularly rather than occasionally.
- Complex spine conditions often involve multiple structural issues at once
- Advanced procedures require focused surgical experience and planning
- Patients usually prefer surgeons who work on spinal disorders routinely
Advanced Technology Improves Results
Spine surgery today looks very different from what many patients picture in their heads. Robotic-assisted systems and minimally invasive techniques now allow many procedures to be performed with more precision while reducing unnecessary disruption to surrounding tissue. A lot of patients researching the best spine surgeons in Los Angeles specifically look for practices already using these technologies because they want more accurate surgical planning and potentially smoother recovery afterward.
- Robotic-assisted systems improve surgical precision and guidance
- Minimally invasive methods reduce muscle and tissue disruption
- Advanced imaging tools support more detailed surgical planning
Better Recovery and Outcomes
Recovery becomes a huge concern once surgery enters the conversation. Patients want realistic expectations. How long healing may take? Whether mobility can improve. Whether nerve symptoms may calm down. Those questions matter. Many people searching for the best spine surgeons are looking beyond the procedure itself. They want long-term function, better movement, and treatment plans built around recovery instead of temporary symptom management.
- Smaller incisions may help recovery feel less physically demanding
- Reduced tissue disruption can lower stress on surrounding structures
- Long-term spinal stability and nerve relief remain major treatment goals

Thank you Dr. Wong!Posted on Google Lugh PowersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Wong and his team, both office and surgical, have earned my highest recommendation. I would put myself and my loved ones in his care without hesitation. He has my gratitude and unwavering endorsement for helping to return me to my previously active and pain-free quality of life. I went to Dr Wong based on a recommendation from a very satisfied patient of his concerning issues that I was having in my neck, arms, hands, and fingers. He was able to identify that I was suffering from the effects of two damaged/degenerating discs in my neck (c5-c6 and c6-c7) which had left me experiencing numbness, tingling, and a measurable loss of grip strength in both hands (especially the right hand). I also was experiencing a medium to severe level of general neck pain, with an audible crackling sound when I would turn my head in either direction from shoulder to shoulder. The worst symptom of this issue was the continual medium grade headache with pain radiating from the back of my neck, up and around my head settling over my eyes. This headache impacted my ability to concentrate and sleep. The totality of this was a degraded quality of life and a lessened ability to be creative and effective while working (I am a Picture Editor) We worked out a plan of surgery and physical therapy to resolve the issues in the most effective and least invasive way possible and proceeded ahead with a two-level disc replacement to be performed at the Docs-Spine Surgical office as an out-patient procedure. The surgical staff, office team, and Dr. Wong himself were caring and supportive throughout the entire process, from pre-surgery, surgery, and post-surgery. Dr. Wong made certain that I was clear on what we were doing, how we were doing it, and what the expected outcome would be. Upon arrival at the Docs Spine Surgical facility, I was immediately cared for by an outstanding team of pre-operation nurses and attendants, and Dr. Wong once again went over the procedure and expectations for the results of the surgery. Here is my experience upon awakening from anesthesia in the recovery room: Headache – gone. Numbness and tingling in my hands and fingers – gone. Neck Pain – gone with mild muscular discomfort in the right trapezius muscle. Total awareness and connection to my upper body, arms, and hands – fully returned. Oddly, the degradation of this connection was so gradual that I was not even aware that I had been losing it until it returned post-surgery. Mild post-surgical discomfort diminished within a week. This discomfort was nothing compared to the actual pain I was experiencing from my neck pre-surgery. Home the same day as surgery, resting comfortably. Results from day of surgery to 4 weeks including physical therapy: Full return of feeling in my arms, hands, and fingers with a return of mobility and grip strength to measurably normal levels. Coordination and finger dexterity have returned to normal. After-care attention and follow-up have been exceptional. Thank you again to Dr. Wong and his team.Posted on Google N8 NORMALLTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Miracle worker!Posted on Google Orr AutoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Wong brought me out of the depths of hell with no where else to turn he took on my case which was botched by other surgeons several times. He came up with a pedical screws strategy c2-t3 posterior fusion as our best chance of success. While I thought it was a lot to do, agreed as the pain and I lost use of 1 hand had me in an almost permanent state of ideation. This was my 5th neck surgery and he was 4th surgeon on board which data by it self seems to signal that there is little chance of success. 1 year later I am doing well with about 45 degree rotation on both sides. I was able to travel with my family all over the U.S. and see New York for the first time. Still a lot of occupational therapy and such to go but I feel I have been given another lease on life. Before this I watched tons of Seattle science foundation on YouTube to try and get the best understanding of the procedure. I traveled between 1 hour and 2 hours with traffic but it was all worth I would travel many more if needed. If you do not have your health you do not have life. A big thank you to him and his colleagues I also went to their surgical center which was a wonderful my wife was able to stay they would make really good custom meals and smoothies. Do not wait like I did to find such a well qualified caring surgeon whether a second opinion or third give him a visit. My feeling is if he did my first surgery I would not of found myself having all these other ones.

Frequently Asked Questions
People usually do not wake up one morning and randomly decide to research spine surgery. Most have already been dealing with pain, numbness, stiffness, or mobility problems for a while before they start searching online. These are some of the questions patients bring up most often during consultations.
Honestly, most patients start by reading way too many reviews at night while lying in bed trying to get comfortable. Then they start comparing experience, procedure types, and whether the surgeon actually focuses on spine conditions full-time. A lot of people also pay attention to how the consultation feels. If everything sounds rushed or overly scripted, patients notice that pretty quickly.
Sometimes it starts with lower back pain that keeps coming back every few months. Other times, it is numbness in the leg, shooting pain down the arm, weakness, balance problems, or neck pain that slowly gets harder to ignore. Some patients come in because they cannot sit through work comfortably anymore. Others just want to know why everyday movement suddenly feels different.
No. Not even close. Plenty of disc problems improve without surgery, especially early on. Some patients respond well to therapy, injections, activity changes, or just giving the irritated nerve time to calm down. Surgery usually becomes part of the discussion when symptoms keep progressing, or normal daily function starts getting affected more seriously.
Mostly because recovery matters. Patients hear “spine surgery” and immediately picture huge incisions and months stuck in bed. Minimally invasive procedures changed some of that thinking. In the right situation, smaller incisions can reduce tissue disruption and make recovery feel more manageable. But it still depends heavily on the actual spinal condition being treated.
Usually, because they have already tried staying local. Some people have gone through therapy, injections, medications, or several opinions before they finally decide they want somebody who focuses heavily on spinal conditions. Once pain starts interfering with work, sleep, or walking normally, most patients care less about convenience and more about finding a surgeon they actually trust.
He combines dual fellowship training, advanced surgical techniques, research experience, and a personalized approach to care for each patient.
